My Philosophy
My interest in teaching stems from my belief that teachers can have an incredible amount of influence over the life of their students, and with this privilege comes a great deal of responsibility to the student. Knowing this, it seems like a no-brainer to me that a teacher, just because of the enormous amount of time a student spends in school, should be expected not only to teach, but also to help shape the student taking into account his or her individual needs. I have had manny personal experiences that contribute to my philosophy today in that the most meaningful learning takes place when students are motivated and interested. It is my belief that the way to achieve this is by giving students a voice in the learning process, and by assisting them in finding connections in the curriculum with their own life and interests. By allowing students to bring their own stories, experiences, and ideas into the classroom, this provides the students with opportunities to work together, to learn from each other, and respect each others’ differences. As a new teacher I hope to intergate mor technology tools into my classroom. This to me is they wave of the future. It will help teacher to keep in touch with the students and their goals. Teachnology is allowing the teachers and the students a more reasearch-based teaching methods.
